Ah... Jabs

To date, Claira have 9 injections since her birth. That's according to her little health booklet.

That is an average of around 1 injection per month!

Obviously Claira did not enjoy any of them... she would burst into loud cries, with tears streaming down her cheeks profusely, whenever the nurse/doctor injected her.
But normally, she is back to her normal self within some minutes... lucky us!

Well, 9 gone and many more to go! Be brave Claira!

4th Tooth

It's finally here... Claira's 4th tooth!

She is also beginning to crawl....well just a little...
It's more like she is standing on all her four limps and shaking her bum back and forward... almost like she is getting ready to "take-off".

She is now 8 1/2 months old. Time flies...

Claira's first encounter with a tablet pc

I came home today and found a laptop bag on the floor in my room...
"What's this suppose to be? A new laptop?" i asked Wanyin.

"Ya... A new one... Tablet..."

"Huh??? MOE pays for tablet pc? What the..."

I can't believe it... it's actually a Fujitsu T4220 Tablet pc worth close to $4000 in Funan!

I'm an IT professional and i only get to own an IBM T60 laptop... pale in comparison indeed...

Anyway, i had much fun teaching Claira some English alphabets and Chinese characters using the tablet features on this laptop.
Expensive toy...

The 3rd Tooth

Claira have the third milk tooth on her upper gum!!! One more to go and she will be the complete biting machine... :P

No wonder she is acting up strangely these few days... i have noticed that she is getting harder to get to sleep.

But all is well and if everything is going smooth, her 4th milk tooth may just pop out anytime soon... haha...

Once upon a time in Pasir Ris Park

Kelvin, Steven and Aaron have a church event(... should be a Family picnic thingy...) at today at Pasir Ris Park... and we went to check out how it was like.

The activities are quite ok... Singing, swimming, games... etc.

But there are only a handful of Chinese, or rather non-Indian participants. Maybe more will join them in the future... who knows... :P

Claira saw the sea, sand and grass for the very first time...

The sand must be too hot for her feet... hee hee...
Anyway, we have to leave the place after an hour or so, as it was Claira's milk time.

"Lunch" for Claira was usual: Similac.

We went to a McDonald's at Elias mall to settle down and have our little "tea break".

Claira only finished about 130ml of milk, when she should have done 150ml...
Oh well, she can have more porridge during her next meal...
After that, we hopped onto the car, and after a few wrong turns, we are back in East Meadows...
Another successful trip out with Claira!

Similac turned into coffee?

We brought Claira to my parent's place this afternoon.

It has been 2 weeks since my mum could carry Claria in her arms...
Thank goodness the shingles are gone!

When it was time for Claira to have her milk around 3:00pm, some strange happened... The "milk" that was prepared turned out to have a strange color: Near brown color!

How can the milk turned into a coffee-like colored drink???
No way can Claira drink that!!!

We deduced that the milk had turned bad and hence the strange color...

Wanyin rushed to NTUC and brought a new can of milk powder for Claira.

What a surprise indeed...
I'm going to see what Similac have to say when they receive our email... Geez...

Daddy back, after 5 days

I went on a business trip to Senai, Malaysia last week, and have not seen Claira for 5 days...

Senai is about 30 mins drive from the Singapore-Malaysia border/customs (Tuas). Having heard a lot about how notorious the Johor Bahru area is(with many armed robberies, snatch theives, etc...), Senai was a rather different little "town" altogether... I didn't feel anything close to danger throughout the 5 days stay.

Compared to Kulim, where i was stationed for about 4-5 months 2 years back, this place is definitely better; in terms of food, shopping malls, and general "city development"

Hotel was a cool 5-Stars golf resort...

Anyway, it was a nice trip, but really missed Claira and Wanyin...

It was so nice to see Claira and Wanyin again after 5 days!

My little computer

Baby Claira went back to her grandparents(my parents) place on Saturday...
It has been 2 weeks since she last went there, due to my mum's operation.

My brother decided to "learn" the art of cooking braised-duck from my mum that day... and he did quite a reasonably good job!!! not bad for the first timer... haha.

Later in the afternoon, Claira was playing with the little computer (that is actually Glenn's toy) in the living room...

Look!

She really looked like she is the expert on the keyboard... haha...

Maybe i should get one for her soon...

She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain

http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/lyrics/../midi/mountain.mid

Claira's favourite song...

When she is still a few days old, i sang to her this song whenever i put her to sleep... soon after, she got used to it and would normally fall quickly to slumberland when she hears this song being played.

The Lyrics:
She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes
She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes
She'll be coming round the mountain, she'll be coming round the mountain,
She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes

She'll be driving six white horses when she comes
She'll be driving six white horses when she comes
She'll be driving six white horses, she'll be driving six white horses,
She'll be driving six white horses when she comes

Oh, we'll all go out to meet her when she comes
Oh, we'll all go out to meet her when she comes
Oh, we'll all go out to meet her, we'll all go out to meet her,
We'll all go out to meet her when she comes

She'll be wearing red pajamas when she comes
She'll be wearing red pajamas when she comes
She'll be wearing red pajamas, she'll be wearing red pajamas,
She'll be wearing red pajamas when she comes

She will have to sleep with Grandma when she comes
She will have to sleep with Grandma when she comes
She will have to sleep with Grandma, she will have to sleep with Grandma,
She will have to sleep with Grandma when she comes

Baby Claira Versus Baby Mummy

A picture of Baby Mummy and Baby Claira:

Any resemblance?

I think her cheeks look like Wanyin...
but overall, i think she has my "feel"... the look in the eyes...
and of course the ears... ever so elven-like! haha!

Chipmunk Lookalike

Looking at a recently taken picture of Claira, i suddenly realised that at certain angles, she looks like a chipmunk.... well, at least close to the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" pictures...

See and compare:

How? Lookalike?

ViVo City here we come

The Koh Family of 3 + 2 grandparents went to ViVo City last night!

Nowadays, an outing is not just an outing... it really means something more...

A shopping trip in town used to be such a simple task:
  1. Idea to go shopping
  2. Change Clothes
  3. Let's go!!!

A realistic scenario now:

  1. Idea to go shopping
  2. Good IDEA!
  3. Go through Checklist on Appendix A
  4. Everything ok?
  5. Change Clothes
  6. Let's go!!!

Appendix A:

  • Baby Claira is feeling unwell?
  • Baby Claira already had her feed?
  • Trip will not disrupt Baby Claira's next feed?
  • Is the weather too hot/cold for Baby Claira?
  • etc ... Baby Claira ...
  • etc ... Baby Claira ...

Anyways, the ViVo City trip materialised!

Here's a picture of Claira with her grandparents in Hog's Breath Cafe:

Here's a picture of the Koh Family in GAP:

Good trip...

Lady bug

Baby Claira posed for a picture, with a lady bug hat, a few days ago...
We thought she looked really cute in it.

Her grandma thought that the hat looked like an official Ching Dynasty head-dress!!!
Look!!!

Er... not really of the same "category"... but definitely a funny description! LOL!

19 hours with Claira, Alone

I made a personal record of taking care of Claira ALONE for 19 hours!

This is how the ~19 hours were clocked:
  • Wanyin and her parents left at 7:30pm to attend her grandma's wake. As it was my "night duty" task on Thursday night, i put Claira to sleep in her room at 9:00pm and slept in a bed beside her till 8:30am next morning. (Waking up at 5:45am to feed her) --> 13 Hours
  • Wanyin and her parents left the house at 10:00am sharp to attend her grandma's wake(last day), and came back at 4:00pm . --> 6 Hours

To add to that record, the following day was also my "night duty"... oh well... just another day in the house...
